PHOTOSHOP BASICS FOR COSTUMERS

This 12 hour introductory Photoshop course involves taking digital photographs, assembling, editing, and otherwise working with images of actors in costumes, makeup and hair as used in production for film and television. Working with layers, backdrops and re-touching.

 

Space is very limited w/ available computers. Book early to not be disappointed. Alternately, there will be a few further spots available if you have a laptop and either
Photoshop ‘elements’ or ‘professional’ installed. While this is an introductory Photoshop course, there are technical subject areas that will be covered, so if you are not completely at ease with your computer, it is not advised that you take this course.

* Students should bring photos from fittings on a usb stick to use .

  • introduction to Photoshop and Mac environment
  • sizing (understanding varying file sizes and how to work with them)
  • basic overview of tools palette

  • importing and working on multiple images and swatches
  • organizing and customizing your workflow
  • fixing lighting, colour, and touch-ups on your images
  • When Saturday Jan 21st, 2pm
  • selections and how to replace swatches
  • experiment with new ones (transformations)
  • layers and your layers palette explained
  • importing your drawings and filling with swatches
  • When Sunday Jan 22, 10am
  • saving and sizing your files for emailing/exporting
  • flattening layers and what they mean
  • final touch-ups to create professional files for viewing
