CAFTCAD would like to invite you to attend our one day seminar entitled:
'An Illustrated History of Costume and Its Relation to Costume in Cinema'
presented by CAFTCAD Member and 2010 Dora Winner for Costume Design, Martha Mann.
This event will be held on Saturday December 4th from 10 am to 4 pm at 65 Heward Ave in Toronto.
CAFTCAD Members registered before November 20th, $50.
Non Members before November 20th, $60
CAFTCAD Members who register after November 20th, $75, and Non Members $90.
Lunch is included in the fee.
Student Price in advance: $30.00

I am so excited about this event, Freda's has been a best kept industry secret.
Freda's is more than a retail destination she has an AMAZING production room with an insanely quick turn around time.
She is also a lovely gal and extremely film friendly.
Freda has been kind enough to provide us with a venue for our April Social get togather and she is footing the bill for wine, cheese and nibbles.

I was at the AGO several weeks ago and luckily happened upon this exhibit. It is not promoted as a costume exhibit however there are approximately 20 pieces on loan from the V&A and several other sources . These are predominately Schiaparelli and some Jacques Fath. You will see many iconic, highly recognizable pieces of historical fashion along with accessories and perfume bottles all influenced by the Surrealist movement. Both designers were trailblazers in their field and these pieces are all still relevent today. A great chance for a close up look at genius design and craftsmanship."

Surreal Things offers a new perspective on the surrealists’ contentious and ambiguous relationship to the commercial fields of design, fashion, advertising, architecture, film and theatre. The exhibition explores how the increasing pressures of burgeoning consumer culture conflicted with surrealism’s first principles. Nonetheless, there was significant creative, cross-fertilization between surrealist artists and designers. The exhibition brings together some of the most extraordinary objects ever created, and will include painting, sculpture, architecture, works on paper, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, furniture, fashion, film and photography.
