CAFTCAD and the Toronto Film Festival (TFF)

Our organization is unprecedented in Canada in its quest to promote homegrown talent not only to local productions, but also to the rest of the world. CAFTCAD aspires to create a mutually beneficial relationship between the film community, fashion community and all of the other businesses that we interact with on a daily basis.

Last year’s hugely successful party was held September 8, 2008 at the Intercontinental Hotel during the Toronto International Film Festival week. It was exciting to see over 200 film and fashion industry professionals in attendance, among them Producer Don Carmody (Chicago & Silent Hill), Director and Production Designer David Hackl (Saw II thru V) and Photographer Rino Noto.

The work of Canadian costume designers in TIFF films will be showcased, continuing to raise the profile of Costume Design in our country. We will be repeating last year’s wildly popular silent auction, the proceeds of which contribute to the Alliance’s many causes including:

  • CREATING a permanent head office with a reference library and other research resources
  • BUILDING national and regional directories of all professionals, companies, services and institutions related to the Costume Arts in Canada
  • EXPANDING “CAFTCADEMY”, our professional development seminar series.

Please browse through the listing of member films, find out more information about our Celebration of Costume in Film, and view the listings of some of the items that will be featured in the Silent Auction to be held during our gala event.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
