CAFTCAD is delighted to host A Conversation with CAFTCAD Award Winning Costume Designer, Adriana Fulop. Fresh off it's premiere at TIFF 2020, Adriana "sits down" to discuss her work on upcoming Indigenous series, Trickster, coming to CBC this fall. Based on Eden Robinson’s bestselling novel, this series follows an Indigenous teen struggling to support his dysfunctional family as myth, magic, and monsters slowly infiltrate his life. Director and co-creator Michelle Latimer (ALIAS, Rise) and co-creator Tony Elliott (ARQ, which premiered at TIFF 2016) have now followed Robinson’s lead by bringing Wee’git to the screen in the CBC series Trickster, the highly anticipated adaptation of Robinson’s novel (source: tiff.net). Adriana will be speaking to her research and design process as well as working with Indigenous artists on the new series. Guests will have a chance to submit questions to the speaker live.
Adriana Fulop is a Slovakian born fashion and costume designer. In 1999, she moved to Toronto to pursue a carrier in fashion and costuming. In 2001, she started the Canadian Independent fashion label Plastik Wrap which led her into the costume design profession. In the last decade, Adriana has created costumes for many video and film productions, dancers, musicians, as well as; independent theaters and artists. Her client list includes Space Channel, APTN, Kaha:wi Dance Theatre, Bralen Dance Theatre, and many others. Adriana's main passion is creating. She embraces the challenge of designing any style required for the job at hand.
