Regardless of the fabulous end result, what happens in a costume fitting is not magic. It’s about the relationship between the costume designer and actor. CAFTCAD Presents a joint seminar with ACTRA Toronto and UBCP/ACTRA that will benefit both performers and costume departments where we will discuss the imperative artistic relationship from initial conversation, fitting room etiquette and onto set.

Why are accurate sizes important and how to get these before you start shopping? What is the best language to use in the fitting room when discussing performer’s bodies? How can you get an actor on board with your design concept? What should an actor ask for before arriving to set?

Joining the seminar will be some favourite Canadian actors who will share their stories, suggestions and expertise on how to establish a harmonious environment where they feel able to portray a character and also move with ease in their costume to bring the story of the scene to screen.
